Teaming up to build villages and houses, explore dark and mysterious caves, bravely conquer enemies and even farm crops is the ultimate social activity. So let’s talk about how you can play for free* together.

Understanding LEGO® Fortnite®

Good news: If you know Fortnite, then you already know a lot about LEGO Fortnite!

When you created your world, you mysteriously became an iconic LEGO Style Outfit. And even though it looks like a Fortnite world all around you, LEGO bricks and elements are hiding just below the surface.

You even download and start playing LEGO Fortnite through the existing Fortnite launcher. Just choose the LEGO Fortnite playlist tile in the Discover menu to begin.

You can play in two different ways in two different kinds of worlds:

A Survival world is an exciting place full of challenges that require your mastery. You’ll have to work to survive, gathering resources and defending yourself against the playfully wicked nightly skeleton onslaught.

A Sandbox world focuses on getting creative. You can explore your vast island and build whatever you want. It’s creativity-forward mode for players of all ages.

No matter which kind of world you choose, you can play together. And it’s awesome!

Playing Together

LEGO Fortnite has room for eight total players at a time. You get to team up and build awesome structures, solve mysteries, explore dangerous caves and defeat powerful enemies.

It’s about teamwork and collaboration. Imagine swinging your axes together and gathering tons of wood to craft into swords. Or why not team up for an adventure and explore enemy and loot-filled caves as a group? That sure makes the skeleton crews inside way less scary. Or you can all split up to explore and reveal new areas of the map and plot out new adventures.

LEGO Fortnite also lets you share a key with your friends. When they become key holders, they can play in your world even when you’re not online! They’re free to build their own villages in the world you created, and everybody’s progress and builds are saved and shared.

Friends can be silly, too. Imagine a wild wolf was too much to handle, and you explode and respawn in your bed. Your backpack full of supplies sits on the ground where you were eliminated. Your friends are free to pick up your backpack and help you out. Or they’re free to pick up your backpack and keep the contents for themselves!

How to Add Friends in LEGO Fortnite

No matter what you’re doing, it’s better together, which is why you and your friends can invite each other into your worlds so easily.

First, you need an Epic Games account to play LEGO Fortnite.

If you already have an existing Epic Games, LEGO, Nintendo®, PlayStation® or Xbox account, you can sign into Epic Games with that account. If you don’t, you or your parent or guardian will need to create one. We suggest creating a new LEGO account or linking to one that you already have.

If you’re playing on a console, it’s also a good idea to link your Epic Games account with your Nintendo, PlayStation or Xbox account to keep your game progress no matter what platform you’re playing on. To do that, you or your parent or guardian must sign in to your account on the official Epic Games site.

When you have your accounts set up and linked, adding friends is easy!

1. Launch Fortnite.

2. Click on the circular avatar icon in the upper right of the screen.

3. Click the icon with the plus button on the menu that appears, which brings you to the Add Friends menu.
4. Enter your friend’s Epic account name or email address in the box provided.

LEGO Fortnite’s crossplay feature lets everyone play together no matter what platform they’re on. Cross-play is enabled by default.
