TERMS OF USE FOR KIDS
Updated: 23. April 2024
Hey there! Before you explore and have fun on this website, there are some important rules to know. They're a bit like the rules of a game, but for using this site. If you're okay with these rules, you can use the site. If you don't like the rules, that's okay too! You don't have to use the site if you don't want to.
Introduction
This website belongs to LEGO System A/S, a company based in Denmark. They made this place for you to have fun and learn cool stuff. You can look around and even save things from here to your own computer or tablet. But, there are some rules you need to follow.
You can download stuff from here to use at home or show your family, like pictures or stories. But you can't copy or use these things to show everyone or for making money unless the LEGO System A/S says you can. It's like borrowing toys from a friend but not sharing them with everyone unless your friend says it's okay.
Online Shopping Information
When you're on shop.LEGO.com, sometimes a special LEGO local company helps out. They might be in charge of selling cool LEGO® toys or helping with fun activities for the LEGO Insiders Membership program. They work together with other people in the LEGO Group to make things awesome for you! You can find out which LEGO company is helping out on your local LEGO.com site.
Use of your data
When you use our website, we might collect some information about you, like your name or what you like to do on our site. We promise to use this information in a safe and respectful way.
To understand how we collect, use, and share your information, or how long we keep it, you can ask your parents to help you check out our Privacy Policy. It explains everything in more detail.
No AI
We don't want anyone else using or taking stuff from this website to teach robots or computers unless LEGO System A/S says it's okay. If we haven't said it's okay, nobody should use anything from this Site to teach robots or computers. If someone doesn't follow these rules, they're breaking the Site's rules.
Intellectual Property
Everything you see on this website belongs to LEGO System A/S or we got permission to use it. LEGO System A/S keeps all the rights to this stuff, like pictures, words, and sounds. We can use it for things like studying and learning, but not everyone else can.
LEGO System A/S can't promise that using the things here won't upset someone else's rights. So, unless these rules say you can, you can't use or share these pictures and stuff. If you do without permission, you might break copyright and other laws.
The special signs and pictures you see here belong to the LEGO Group. You can't use them without asking first, even if it's not written down. You need permission from the LEGO Group or whoever else owns these special signs and pictures. If you want to know more about using them, you can ask your parents to help you check out the LEGO Group Fair Play Policy.
Taking other people’s stuff
For United States users: If you think something on this website belongs to you and shouldn't be here, you can tell us! You can ask your parents to help you use the buttons on the website to report it or you can ask your parents to help you fill out this Complaint Form to let us know.
Notice
Hey there! If you think something on our website belongs to you and shouldn't be here, we'd like to help. You can write to us and include:
- A grown-up's signature, saying it's okay to talk about the stuff that's yours or you're allowed to talk for the owner.
- The web link (URL) to what's yours that's on our site and shouldn't be.
- Tell us clearly what's yours that's being used.
- Your contact details like your address, phone number, and email so we can chat with you.
- A note saying you really believe this stuff isn't allowed to be here and that all the info you're giving is true.
You can send your complaint to us in the mail or by email: LEGO System A/S, Copyright Notices, Aastvej 1, 7190 Billund, Denmark. Email: copyrightnotices@LEGO.com.
If you don't follow all the rules in this section, your complaint about someone using your idea might not be considered by us.
If we get a complaint that follows all the rules, we might decide not to show or take down the thing that's being complained about. We also have the right to take action if someone says something is wrong when it's actually okay to use it.
Counter-Notice
If something you posted was taken down because someone said it belongs to them, but you think it's okay for you to use it or you have permission, you can email us at copyrightnotices@LEGO.com and tell us why you think it's okay. Just include the details below in your email:
- A grown-up's signature, saying it's okay to talk about the stuff that's yours or you're allowed send us the information we need.
- Tell us what thing got taken down or blocked and where people could see it before.
- Explain why you think it was a mistake or they got it wrong.
- Share your name, address, phone number, email, and say you'll accept a letter from the person who said you did something wrong.
If you don't follow all the rules in this section, your Counter Notice saying you didn't do anything wrong might not count, and LEGO System A/S not look at it.
LEGO System A/S might share your Counter Notice with the person who said you did something wrong. They'll have about two weeks to answer. If they don't take you to court during that time, your stuff might go back online after 10 to 14 days, but we get to decide.
Code of Conduct and Appropriate Use
The LEGO Group Code of Conduct is a list of the rules we have for everyone who visits our websites or apps, even this one. If someone breaks these rules on one of our places, there might be consequences on other places too.
The rules are there to make sure everyone is nice and kind to each other on all the websites and apps we use. We don't allow things like being mean to others, saying scary things, or posting things that are very bad, like talking about hurting someone. You can click here to see all the rules and what's okay and not okay to do on this website.
How the LEGO Group Enforces its Code of Conduct
We enforce our Code of Conduct in different ways.
Moderation
In our company, we make sure that everything on our websites is safe and good for everyone. This means we check all the things people upload, like words, pictures, and videos, to make sure they are okay for everyone to see.
When someone sends something to our websites, a special computer program looks at it first. This program helps us make sure everything is okay.
For websites that are for grown-ups, we use smart computer programs to help check things like words and pictures. Sometimes these things might have personal information. But don't worry, we're really careful with this info. You can ask your parents to help you read more about this in our Privacy Policy. Also, we use special computer tools to check the language and pictures.
But, even with all these computer helpers, we always have a real person look at things if there's something tricky.
For websites meant for kids, we have super special filters that only let good things come through. And guess what? A real person always checks to make sure everything is just right for kids.
User reports
If you see something that doesn't seem right on our websites or apps, tell us! Here's how:
- Ask your parents to help you to report a post by clicking this link: Customer Service
- Use the “Report” button on a specific post
For Australian users: If you see something on our website that you don't like or that upsets you, you can tell someone who can help. There's a special person called the Australian eSafety Commissioner who can help with this.
If you want to tell them about something, you'll need to write down a few things:
- Your name and how they can get in touch with you.
- The web address (like a link) of the thing you want to talk about and any other details that help find it.
- Say what the thing is about.
- Tell why you don't like it or why it bothers you.
You can get your parents to help you use a special form on the eSafety Commissioner's website to write all this down and send it to them. They'll know just what to do to help.
Procedures
If something on our Site doesn't follow the rules, our team looks into it. They check to see if someone broke the rules we have.
If someone did break the rules, here's what might happen:
- Content removal: If there's something on our Site that's not allowed or that tricks people, we take it off right away. That means if something is against the rules or belongs to someone else without permission, we'll remove it. Sometimes, things might not be okay because they don't follow how we should behave. In those cases, we check and decide if it needs to be taken down.
- Content editing (for example, to delete an image or specific text): If part of something someone sends isn't okay, we might fix just that part. For example, if there's a picture or words that are not right, we might take them out to make it better.
- Temporary suspension of access privileges: If someone keeps not following the rules and being mean or doing things that aren't okay, we might need to pause their account for a little while. This can happen if someone keeps bothering others, shares secrets they shouldn't, or keeps saying things that aren't true. Also, if someone keeps telling stories that aren't true about others or uses our reporting system in a way that's not fair, we might need to pause their account for a bit.
- Permanent blocking of access privileges: If someone puts really bad things on our site, like stuff that hurts kids, we'll close their account right away. We might also close accounts of people who keep not following the rules, keep being mean, or keep making up stories about others. If someone tries to get around being in trouble for being not nice before, we might need to close their account too.
Before we do anything like closing an account or taking away someone's access, we think about a few things to be fair. We look at:
- How many times something really not okay was posted or if someone kept saying things that aren't true.
- How much of the not okay stuff there is compared to everything else.
- How bad the not okay stuff is and if it might hurt others.
- Also, we try to understand why someone did something or why someone told on someone else.
If we have to do something because of the rules, we'll tell you why. We'll let you know what happened and why it's important, mentioning the rules we have.
Right of Appeal
If you feel we did something wrong that affected you, like taking down something or stopping your account, you can tell us about it for up to 6 months. We'll listen and check if we made a mistake.
For EU users: If you're still not happy after talking with us, you can ask someone else to help. In Denmark, there's a special group called the Digital Services Coordinator at the Konkurrence- og Forbrugerstyrelsen. They listen to complaints about how we follow the rules for online things. You can ask your parents to help you find their contact details at https://www.kfst.dk.
For Australian users: If we can't fix the problem in a fair amount of time, we'll ask the Australian eSafety Commissioner to help.
Our promises to you
We try really hard to make sure everything on our website is right and up to date. But sometimes, there might be mistakes or things that aren't exactly correct. We're sorry if that happens.
When you visit our Site, there might be things that could cause problems for your computer or tablet. LEGO System A/S is not responsible for that.
We want you to know that everything on our Site is given to you as it is, without any special promises about how good it is. This means we can't promise it'll always be perfect for you.
If you use our website, you need to be careful and understand that we can't guarantee everything will be just right for you. Some rules might be different where you live, so it's good to check those too.
Confidentiality
If you send us a message or share something on our website, it's like sharing it with everyone. We might use what you share for different things, like showing it to others or using your ideas to make new things.
So, if you tell us something or share something, it's not a secret. We might use it in lots of different ways, like making new stuff or telling others about it.
Other people’s websites
We might put links to other websites on our site. But we haven't checked all of them, so we can't promise they're all good or okay.
If you click on a link and go to another website, it's your choice. We're not in charge of those other websites, and we're not saying they're good or bad.
We want you to know that we're not responsible for what happens on those other websites. So, if something goes wrong or you don't like what you see there, it's not because of us.
Contacts
For EU users: We have someone you can talk to if you have questions about the rules or how we behave on our website. If you want to ask something about the rules or how we act, you can ask your parents to help you send us a message. You can also write a letter to our person in charge at:
