Rare animals: blue whale

- Did you know the blue whale is the largest animal on the planet today? It weighs more than 30 elephants and its heart is the size of a small car. (Imagine that next time you’re in your parents’ car!) - It has lived in our oceans for about 10 million years. It is now one of the world’s endangered species. - The biggest threats to blue whales are overfishing and pollution. An adult blue whale has to eat about 4 tons of krill every day. That’s about as much as 3.5 million LEGO® bricks weigh! Whales can’t sort or spit out waste like plastic, and it hurts them when they eat it by accident. - A lot of people around the world are working to reduce ocean pollution so the whales can live and feed safely, and grow in numbers.
