TERMS OF USE FOR LEGO® APPS AND GAMES FOR KIDS
Last Update: 23. April 2024
Introduction
Hey there! Before you explore and have fun using this App or Game, there are some important rules to know. They're a bit like the rules of a game, but for using this App of Game. If you're okay with these rules, you can use the App or Game. If you don't like the rules, that's okay too! You don't have to use the App or Game if you don't want to.
This App or Game is made by a company called LEGO System A/S in Denmark. When we talk about 'App' in these Terms of Use, we mean all the fun stuff you can play on your phone or computer, like games and cool things you can do online.
This App is made for everyone, but if you're younger than 18 years old, you need your parent's okay to use it. If you're a kid, make sure your mom or dad reads and says it's okay for you to use the App before you start playing.
Processing of personal information
For more information about how we handle your personal data, you can ask your parents to visit our Privacy Policy.
Your use of stuff in the App
Everything you see and use in the App, like the pictures, words, and cool stuff, is owned by us, the people who made the App. We have special rights to it, like how you own your toys. The names and logos you see in the App belong to us or the people who or let us use them.
You promise not to copy, share, or try to figure out how the cool stuff in the App works. Just enjoy using the App and the fun things inside it without trying to do anything tricky with them.
Accounts
In the App, you might need to make a special LEGO Account to do more things or get extra cool stuff. To learn more about the LEGO account and all the cool things you can get, you can ask your parents to get more information on the LEGO.com homepage.
If you don't follow the rules for your LEGO account or behave nicely while using the App, we might have to stop you from playing with certain parts of the App or using your account altogether.
Stuff you create
The App might let you talk to others, share ideas, or post cool things like stories, pictures, or videos. But remember, what you share could be seen by other people using the App or on other websites. So, it's like sharing with friends and not a secret.
You give us permission to use stuff you submit
When you share things like your stories or drawings on the App, you still own them. But you let us use them in the App or on other places owned us, like on our website or in other Apps. We can change what you submit or use them to make new things, for free. Also, if you send us cool ideas, we can use those too to make more fun stuff for everyone. You promise that the things you share don't belong to someone else, and you're okay with us using them.
Everything you share on the App belongs to you! The cool stories, drawings, or anything else you put up are totally yours. If you say something in the App, it's your responsibility, not ours. We don't have to check everything you share, but we're here to help if you need it.
App distributors/stores
These rules are between you and us, not the places where you get the App, like Apple, Amazon, Google, or others. We're the ones who take care of the App and all the cool things in it, not those places where you download the App.
The places where you got the App, like Apple or Google, don't have to fix or help with any problems in the App. They don't promise to make it work better or fix anything if something goes wrong.
We promise to take care of any problems or complaints about the App, not the places where you got it. If something isn't right with the App or if someone has a problem because of the App, we'll handle it.
If someone says we used something in the App that belongs to them, we'll take care of talking to them and fixing it, not the places where you got the App from.
You promise that you're not in a country that the U.S. Government has said is not okay to use this App in, and you're not on a list (like a sanctions list) that says you can't use the App.
You promise to follow the rules of other companies, like your phone service, when you're using this App. So, if they say you can't do something, don't do it while using the App.
When you agree to these rules, the places where you got the App from, like Apple or Google, can also make sure you follow these rules because they're covered by them too.
When you use the App, you have to follow the rules that the place where you got the App from, like Apple or Google, has for using apps. It's like the rules they have for all the apps you download from there.
Taking other people’s stuff
For United States users: If you think something on this website belongs to you and shouldn't be here, you can tell us! You can ask your parents to help you use the buttons on the website to report it or you can ask your parents to help you fill out this Complaint Form to let us know.
Notice
Hey there! If you think something on our website belongs to you and shouldn't be here, we'd like to help. You can write to us and include:
- A grown-up's signature, saying it's okay to talk about the stuff that's yours or you're allowed to talk for the owner.
- The web link (URL) to what's yours that's on our site and shouldn't be.
- Tell us clearly what's yours that's being used.
- Your contact details like your address, phone number, and email so we can chat with you.
- A note saying you really believe this stuff isn't allowed to be here and that all the info you're giving is true.
You can send your complaint to us in the mail or by email: LEGO System A/S, Copyright Notices, Aastvej 1, 7190 Billund, Denmark. Email: copyrightnotices@LEGO.com.
If you don't follow all the rules in this section, your complaint about someone using your idea might not be considered by us.
If we get a complaint that follows all the rules, we might decide not to show or take down the thing that's being complained about. We also have the right to take action if someone says something is wrong when it's actually okay to use it.
Counter-Notice
If something you posted was taken down because someone said it belongs to them, but you think it's okay for you to use it or you have permission, you can email us at copyrightnotices@LEGO.com and tell us why you think it's okay. Just include the details below in your email:
- A grown-up's signature, saying it's okay to talk about the stuff that's yours or you're allowed send us the information we need.
- Tell us what thing got taken down or blocked and where people could see it before.
- Explain why you think it was a mistake or they got it wrong.
- Share your name, address, phone number, email, and say you'll accept a letter from the person who said you did something wrong.
If you don't follow all the rules in this section, your Counter Notice saying you didn't do anything wrong might not count, and LEGO System A/S not look at it.
LEGO System A/S might share your Counter Notice with the person who said you did something wrong. They'll have about two weeks to answer. If they don't take you to court during that time, your stuff might go back online after 10 to 14 days, but we get to decide.
Code of Conduct and Appropriate Use
The LEGO Group Code of Conduct is a list of the rules we have for everyone who visits our websites or apps, even this one. If someone breaks these rules on one of our places, there might be consequences on other places too.
The rules are there to make sure everyone is nice and kind to each other on all the websites and apps we use. We don't allow things like being mean to others, saying scary things, or posting things that are very bad, like talking about hurting someone. You can click here to see all the rules and what's okay and not okay to do on this website.
How the LEGO Group Enforces its Code of Conduct
We enforce our Code of Conduct in different ways.
Moderation
In our company, we make sure that everything on our websites is safe and good for everyone. This means we check all the things people upload, like words, pictures, and videos, to make sure they are okay for everyone to see.
When someone sends something to our websites, a special computer program looks at it first. This program helps us make sure everything is okay.
For websites that are for grown-ups, we use smart computer programs to help check things like words and pictures. Sometimes these things might have personal information. But don't worry, we're really careful with this info. You can ask your parents to help you read more about this in our Privacy Policy. Also, we use special computer tools to check the language and pictures.
But, even with all these computer helpers, we always have a real person look at things if there's something tricky.
For websites meant for kids, we have super special filters that only let good things come through. And guess what? A real person always checks to make sure everything is just right for kids.
User reports
If you see something that doesn't seem right on our websites or apps, tell us! Here's how:
• Ask your parents to help you to report a post by clicking this link: Customer Service
• Use the “Report” button on a specific post
For Australian users: If you see something on our website that you don't like or that upsets you, you can tell someone who can help. There's a special person called the Australian eSafety Commissioner who can help with this.
If you want to tell them about something, you'll need to write down a few things:
- Your name and how they can get in touch with you.
- The web address (like a link) of the thing you want to talk about and any other details that help find it.
- Say what the thing is about.
- Tell why you don't like it or why it bothers you.
You can ask your parents to help you use a special form on the eSafety Commissioner's website to write all this down and send it to them. They'll know just what to do to help.
Procedures
If something on our Site doesn't follow the rules, our team looks into it. They check to see if someone broke the rules we have.
If someone did break the rules, here's what might happen:
- Content removal: If there's something on our Site that's not allowed or that tricks people, we take it off right away. That means if something is against the rules or belongs to someone else without permission, we'll remove it. Sometimes, things might not be okay because they don't follow how we should behave. In those cases, we check and decide if it needs to be taken down.
- Content editing (for example, to delete an image or specific text): If part of something someone sends isn't okay, we might fix just that part. For example, if there's a picture or words that are not right, we might take them out to make it better.
- Temporary suspension of access privileges: If someone keeps not following the rules and being mean or doing things that aren't okay, we might need to pause their account for a little while. This can happen if someone keeps bothering others, shares secrets they shouldn't, or keeps saying things that aren't true. Also, if someone keeps telling stories that aren't true about others or uses our reporting system in a way that's not fair, we might need to pause their account for a bit.
- Permanent blocking of access privileges: If someone puts really bad things on our site, like stuff that hurts kids, we'll close their account right away. We might also close accounts of people who keep not following the rules, keep being mean, or keep making up stories about others. If someone tries to get around being in trouble for being not nice before, we might need to close their account too.
Before we do anything like closing an account or taking away someone's access, we think about a few things to be fair. We look at:
- How many times something really not okay was posted or if someone kept saying things that aren't true.
- How much of the not okay stuff there is compared to everything else.
- How bad the not okay stuff is and if it might hurt others.
- Also, we try to understand why someone did something or why someone told on someone else.
If we have to do something because of the rules, we'll tell you why. We'll let you know what happened and why it's important, mentioning the rules we have.
Right of Appeal
If you feel we did something wrong that affected you, like taking down something or stopping your account, you can tell us about it for up to 6 months. We'll listen and check if we made a mistake.
For EU users: If you're still not happy after talking with us, you can ask someone else to help. In Denmark, there's a special group called the Digital Services Coordinator at the Konkurrence- og Forbrugerstyrelsen. They listen to complaints about how we follow the rules for online things. Your parents can find their contact details at https://www.kfst.dk.
For Australian users: If we can't fix the problem in a fair amount of time, we'll ask the Australian eSafety Commissioner to help.
Your promises to us
When you use the App, you promise that: (1) the info you give when you sign up is true and correct; (2) if anything changes, you'll update your info; (3) you're allowed to use the App and follow these rules; (4) if you're under 18 years old, your mom or dad said it's okay for you to use the App; (5) you won't use robots or other sneaky ways to use the App; (6) you'll only use the App for good stuff, not anything bad, illegal, or against the rules; and (7) you'll follow all the rules and laws when you use the App.
Our promises to you
We try really hard to make sure everything in our App is right and up to date. But sometimes, there might be mistakes or things that aren't exactly correct. We're sorry if that happens.
When you use our App, there might be things that could cause problems for your computer or tablet. LEGO System A/S is not responsible for that.
We want you to know that everything in our App is given to you as it is, without any special promises about how good it is. This means we can't promise it'll always be perfect for you.
If you use our App, you need to be careful and understand that we can't guarantee everything will be just right for you. Some rules might be different where you live, so it's good to check those too.
Making things right
Keep your username, password, and account secret. You're also in charge of everything that happens with your account.
You promise to keep us and the people who help us (like App distributors or other users) out of trouble if someone blames us because of something you did wrong or if something goes wrong when you use the App or your account.
If something happens and we need to defend ourselves, please help us by working together. We might need to get special helpers to defend us.
Taking care of the App
We can stop you from using the App or change it whenever we want, for any reason.
We might also keep an eye on the App to make sure everyone follows the rules. If someone breaks the rules, we might have to tell the police or take away what they shared. We can also remove things that are too big or make the App hard to use. We're just trying to keep the App safe and working well for everyone.
Contacts
For EU users: We have someone you can talk to if you have questions about the rules or how we behave on our website. If you want to ask something about the rules or how we act, you can ask your parents to help you send us a message. You can also write a letter to our person in charge at:
LEGO System A/S
Aastvej 1,
7190 Billund,
Denmark
Att: DSA Contact Person
Don't forget to tell us your name and which country you live in when you ask a question.
For EU users: The name of the person who helps us with online rules in Europe and can help us answer questions from special government departments is: Larisa Pircalabelu at DSAInquiries@LEGO.com.
Updates
Sometimes, we might change the rules here. If we do, you'll see the new rules on this page. It's important to check back here once in a while to see if anything has changed.
The laws that apply
These rules follow the laws of Denmark. If there's any problem about these rules or the App, it should be sorted out in courts in Denmark.
But, in some special cases where the law says you can go to a different court, you might be able to do that too. The App might not be right or allowed in every place, so if you use it, make sure it's okay with the laws where you are.
Play Well!
